I didn’t initially try to create beetles. I was simply working with media, shapes, and colors after a months-long art hiatus. But that’s what my friends saw in this first piece, so I went with the idea!

Of course I used different sparkle types that don’t play well together in photographs. One day I’ll learn!

I also experimented with amethyst I bought from a Gem & Jewelry show.
